Oggi è facile sapere molte cose di una persona con minimo sforzo.
Basta digitare il suo nome su Google o sui social network. Ma non è così per tutti.
E non solo per chi online non c’è per motivi anagrafici, ma anche perché qualcuno fa dell’assenza una scelta consapevole. Una di queste persone è Brooke Soffer, figlia del magnate americano Donald Soffer e manager di uno tra gli hotel più famosi al mondo, lo storico Fontainebleu di Miami.
Incontrarla senza nessuna pre-conoscenza ha voluto dire aprirmi completamente all’ascolto e scoprire una persona sorprendente.

Today it is easy to know many things about a person with minimal effort.
Just type a name on Google or on social networks. But this is not the case for everyone.
And not only for those who are offline for age reasons, but also because someone makes of absence an informed choice. One of these people is Brooke Soffer, daughter of the American tycoon Donald Soffer and manager of one of the most famous hotels in the world, the historic Fontainebleu in Miami.
Meeting her without any pre-knowledge has meant opening up completely to listening and discovering an amazing person.

Marie Louise Sciò – The Hotel Couture Personal Storytelling – Episode#3

Marie Louise Sciò, creative director at Pellicano Group, is one of those women you can fall in love with at first sight. At least, for me it has been enough to see her in the first sequence of a Semaine video, where she shakes an espresso with a multicolor turban on her head and an half-embarassed half-amused expression on her face.

And then, indeed, the Pellicano … what a wonderful hotspot is this hotel on a reef on the Tyrrhenian blue! My dream would have been to interview her over there, where she grew up. Instead, she invited us to her Roman flat. Comfy and chic, ça va sans dire. And from there this short story, entitled “Open Challenge”, starts. 

Marie Louise Sciò, direttrice creativa del Pellicano Group, è una di quelle di cui ti puoi innamorare a prima vista. Almeno, per me. Mi è bastato vederla nella prima scena di un video di Semaine, col turbante multicolor in testa, shakerare un espresso al pool bar del Pellicano con un’espressione fra il divertito e l’imbarazzato. E poi, appunto, Il Pellicano… ma vogliamo parlare di cos’è quell’angolo di scogliera sul blu tirreno? Il mio sogno sarebbe stato intervistarla proprio lì, dove è cresciuta. E invece ci ha invitato nel suo appartamento romano. Comodo e chic, ça va sans dire. E da lì parte questo racconto, intitolato “Sfida Aperta” (Open Challenge).

Lydia and Irene Forte – The Hotel Couture Personal Storytelling – Episode#2 →

What do you think, if I tell you “Forte”? Fast, brilliant, energetic (with lowercase f), an hôtellerie empire (with uppercase F). Yes, you’re right. If the legendary Forte Village in Sardinia is into Russian hands, a dozen of magnificent hotels – among them the Hotel de Russie in Rome and the London Brown’s – still refer to the Forte family. If we know of Carmine, that he left Frosinone at the beginning of the last century, opened first a dairy in London, then a chain of restaurants and hotels, until he became baron Charles Forte, if we know of Rocco, that he’s leading the group bearing his name since 25 eventful years, we know little or nothing of Lydia and Irene Forte, the Rocco’s daughters -  young, strong-willed, creative, soft skills teachers.

This short story, entitled “Sisters are Forte” has been inspired by a woman to woman chat, ranging from Lydia’s recent wedding to Irene’s passion for bio cosmetics. Enjoy!

A cosa pensate se dico Forte? Veloce, brillante, energico (con la f minuscola), un impero dell’hôtellerie (con la F maiuscola). Già, proprio così. E se il mito del Forte Village in Sardegna è passato in mano russa, una decina di magnifici - tra cui l’Hotel de Russie a Roma e il Brown’s a Londra - rimangono in capo alla famiglia Forte.  Se di Carmine sappiamo che partì agli inizi del secolo scorso da Frosinone, aprì una latteria a Londra e da lì una catena di ristoranti prima e di hotel dopo, fino a diventare il baronetto Charles Forte, se di Rocco sappiamo che è al comando del gruppo che porta il suo nome da oltre 25 movimentati anni, poco o pochissimo si sa di Lydia e Irene Forte, figlie di Rocco – giovani, determinate, creative, maestre di soft skills.

Da chiacchiere tra donne, spaziando del recente matrimonio di Lydia e alle passioni per la cosmesi bio di Irene, è uscito questo racconto dal titolo “Sisters are Forte”. Enjoy!

Ori Kafri - The Hotel Couture Personal Storytelling - Episode #1 →

This time I meet The Hotel Couture's “people behind the scenes” and enter their secret room to catch inspiration for the website’s columne entitled The Conversazioni – phantastic short stories I have written, fascinated by the biographies of personalities with composite identities, divergent vision and irregular trajectories.

Let’s start by Ori Kafri, an avant-garde hotelier, the creative and innovative founder of JK Place. He was born in Florence to two Israeli entrepreneurs who came to Florence from Tel Aviv in 1976. After much travelling and pursuing studies in economics and tourism, in 2003 Ori Kafri opened JK Place Firenze aged just 24. It was followed by JK Place Roma and JK Place Capri, nominated by Tatler in 2008 the world’s best hotels. JK Place hotels are luxury boutique hotels, housed in renovated historical buildings furnished by Florentine architect Michele Bönan, inspired by a distinctly human approach to service, discretion and the utmost personalisation. 

Ori Kafri entertained me for hours in his JK Place Florence, chatting in a gentle and placid way. A peculiar anedocte emerged during the interview – regarding the party in Rappaport’s villa in Los Angeles transformed into JK Malibu – has been the glimmer for this short story, entitled “The unexpected visit”. 

Questa volta sconfino dietro le quinte di The Hotel Couture, per andare a togliere il velo del mistero sui proprietari, personalità intriganti che ispirano la rubrica del sito THC intitolata The Conversazioni. Sono racconti fantastici che ho scritto affascinata dalle biografie di personaggi con identità composite, traiettorie irregolari e pensiero divergente.

Cominciamo da Ori Kafri, hôtelier d’avanguardia, creativo e innovatore, nato a Firenze da una coppia di imprenditori israeliani arrivati da Tel Aviv a Firenze nel 1976. Dopo molti viaggi e studi di economia e turismo, a soli 24 anni Ori Kafri apre il JK Place Firenze, cui seguiranno il JK Place Roma e il JK Place Capri, nominati nel 2008 dalla rivista Tatler i migliori hotel del mondo. I JK Place sono boutique hotels di lusso situati in palazzi storici ristrutturati e arredati dall’architetto fiorentino Michele Bönan, ispirati ad un approccio squisitamente umano al servizio, alla discrezione e alla massima personalizzazione, 

Ori Kafri mi ha intrattenuto per ore nel suo JK Place di Firenze conversando con modi pacati e gentili d’altri tempi. Un aneddoto particolare emerso durante l’intervista, la festa nella villa di Rappaport a Los Angeles trasformata in JK Malibu, è stata la scintilla che ha fatto nascere questo racconto, intitolato “La visita inaspettata”.
